What can I shred?
Guide to choosing
your Kobra Shredder
What do I want to Shred?
What is the Shredding Capacity? This is how many sheets you wish to shred at a time
What is the Throat Width? The throat width is the size of the opening into which the paper is fed. This determines the size of the paper that can be used without folding it.
What is S1 - S2 - S3 - S4 - S5 - S6? These are different security levels a shredder can have, S1 to S6. The higher the number the more secure the shredder. Find out more...
What is Cross Cut? Also know as confetti or partical cut and is when paper is shredded into small pieces.
What is Straight Cut? Straight Cut also known as strip or ribbon cut is when paper is cut into long strips.
What is DIN standard? The DIN Standard is a classification of security levels stating the maximum allowable size of shreds to suit each security level. Manufacturers use this to define the security of their shredders.
What is the waste capacity? The waste capacity is given in liters and indicates how much shredded material can be collected. If you need greater capacity, go for a larger model. Also bear in mind that the smaller the shredded fragments, the greater the reduction in volume and the more material can be shredded before waste bags fill up. This means they need to be emptied less often.
What is a Duty Cycle? The Duty Cycle of a machine is the amount of time the machine will shred before the motor cuts out. If this happens leave the machine to cool down and it will automatically reset itself. The cheaper the machine the quicker it will cut out.

What happens if I put too much paper in the throat of the Shredder? Automatic Reverse System. Kobra shredders are equipped with a special system which detects the thickness of the paper entering the shredder and automatically rejects the excess material. This makes Kobra Shredders 100% Jam Proof.
How Environmentally Friendly are Kobra Shredders? Energy smart system – Zero Consumption in stand-by mode. A patented feature which operates in conjunction with illuminated optical indicators, is the latest technological development available exclusively to KOBRA shredders. A Kobra shredder requires electrical energy only during use. Once shredding is completed the stand-by zero consumption (Energy Smart) mode will make sure that no more electrical energy is drained from the power source saving up to Euro 20,00 (electrical costs vary in each country) a year of electrical energy whilst protecting the environment by reducing by 65 Kgs the carbon dioxide that would have been introduced into the atmosphere for generation of the power saved by Energy Smart.
